Jimmy Day's performances at the show were nothing short of amazing. He alternated between hot uptempo swing on the C6th neck and sensitive country ballads on the E9th. Often on the C6th he used both feet on the pedals. His E9th work on the Ray Price classic A Way To Survive was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.
Jimmy Day is almost motionless when he plays. One gets the impression that he immerses himself in a trance. His facial expression does not change - he reminded me of a wooden indian - but when a song was over, he'd look up at the crowd with a big grin and bask in the applause.
Like most of the performers, Jimmy played both days. He said he was "real nervous", but it sure didn't show in his playing.
